Summer Party Roundup, Organic Produce and no Fish List - Friday 13th September 2024

Dear Wonderful People,

Here at Grange Farm Shop we are still on a high from our party on Saturday. We woke up to rainclouds, but by the time our guests started to arrive the sun was out and we basked in its glory for the entire afternoon. It was such a joy to see so many familiar faces, and lots of new ones too! Thank you to everyone who joined us, ate a burger, enjoyed the music, had their face painted, and special thanks to everyone who helped us on the day – from a last-minute loan of a marquee from our fantatic neighbours, to the Barn Café who made the delicious puddings, to the amazing Blake (maker of our Hasketon Honey), who was in charge of sound engineering on the day. THANK YOU ALL! We can’t wait to do it all again next year.

Back to reality, and the season continues to turn, inside the shop as well as out. The stone fruits are coming to an end, with a beautiful late summer arrival from customer favourite the Marjorie Seedling plums, and we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of apples from High House Farm.

September is Organic Month, and we are extremely proud to work with local farmers who provide us with the very best organic produce, which is free of synthetic chemicals, better for wildlife and farm animals, and better for soil and our natural world. You may have enjoyed our organic corn on the cob at the party on Saturday, and it is still available in the shop. We have also had the most colourful delivery of mixed chillis from Maple Farm, including Padron peppers - absolutely delicious pan-fried until blistering and wilted and served simply with sea salt. Perfect paired with a crisp glass of organic Montesquiou Juracon Sec!

The Barn Café will be closed between the 16th and 22nd of September, when the team will be ready to welcome you back with a fresh lick of paint and a delicious new menu. A Passion for Seafood is also closed this week while Mike attends Ludlow Food Festival, so there is no fish list this week.

We have our fingers very tightly crossed that by the time we write to you next week the road to Grundisburgh will be open, and until then we continue to be extremely grateful especially for those of you who are making the long journey from ‘the other side’, your support has not gone unrecognised!

Wishing you all a fantastic weekend ahead!
