Catch of the Week 14th June - Suffolk Fried Chicken on the Meadow

Hello Delightful People,

How are you? As summer gets off to its shaky start, the mowers get clogged up and the strimmer of time gets going we are making best effort to get your weekly dose of GF news sooner rather than almost too later.

Not least because this Saturday, 15th, from 11am to 3pm those champion food truckers Suffolk Fried Chicken will be on the Meadow with tasty, Suffolk reared buttermilk chicken - cooked in or fed on buttermilk, Ed? We think cooked in. Suffice to say and to borrow an agricultural rugby team’s strap line, it’s Suffolk and good.

Adnams were so delighted we are hosting Suffolk Fried Chicken they’ve asked to come too which is great. The more the merrier.

In Suffolk Punch news our food heroes the Food Museum, in Stowmarket, are celebrating the birth of a rare Suffolk Punch filly born on 8th June. The first Suffolk Punch foal to have been born there for 100 years. The Barn Café raised cash for this critically endangered species that is close to all our hearts. Click HERE for photos on the Museum's website and HERE for their Instagram.

Less upbeat is the current @$!&;)! Road closure and planned one. On Saturday at 10am there’s public meeting about it at Grundisburgh Village Hall, please come!

Don’t forget it’s Father’s day on Sunday, and seeing that I am one I’m hoping that certain people read this far… maybe I’ll put this at the top!

And now for fish, Mike was highly commended as a Finalist but didn’t win, yah boo sucks, the Guild of Food Writer’s 2024 awards. He returns fresh from the awards tomorrow and with fresh fish to boot so do ask him about it. We are lucky to have such talent berthed at GF. So with out further ado here is the catch of the week, not forgetting the Father's day lobbo(!):
